An Attitude For Success
What’s the value of an education? Reflecting on the MBA I completed in 1997, I recall learning topics that are still relevant to my career; and, I recall topics that were taught but are no longer relevant (and have since been forgotten). More interesting, I do not recall learning many of the skills I use on a daily basis. My point: we are often unaware of the learning process and the impact it has on our lives. Completing the MBA was an accomplishment, applying what was learned was more significant.
Professional training programs associated with accounting, project management, and management consulting are critical to long-term career development. Unfortunately many training providers focus on technical skills or knowledge of best practice techniques and overlook the practical application of these skills and methodologies. It’s similar to an athletic coach who is focused solely on skating or shooting the puck and not teaching strategies to win the game; or, a choir that practices every week but never performs.
Shaping attitudes for success is a fundamental objective at Abinsi; we identify business opportunities from both an operational perspective (incremental change) and a strategic perspective (transformative change). Our experience indicates that many struggling organizations operate effectively but lack strategic “leadership” necessary to grow. Leadership requires direction; an “attitude” or strategy positions the business in its market. Advice that shapes attitude can significantly impact a business’ success.
Effective organizations need teams that can apply skills and innovative approaches. A highly skilled team will be ineffective if decision making is prolonged or influenced by the wrong attitudes (internal bias). Their attitudes affect their decisions. Removing internal bias and exploring alternatives is an important activity during strategic planning. Fresh attitudes help to “win the game” or “perform in front of an audience”.
Abinsi shapes attitudes. We challenge “group think” and identify opportunities for innovation. Abinsi’s consulting practice includes assessments, coaching, and training to increase organizational effectiveness. Our training for mid-career professionals develops skills through applied learning techniques and real-world experiences that collectively shape the attitudes of participants.
Our learning program supports long-term engagement where participants can leverage the skills and experiences of the community. Training is a component of this community. Attitude shaping and business excellence is the goal.
